CBS renews 18 shows

CBS just became the first of the Big 5 Networks to announce which shows they've picked up for another season.  The good news has officially been handed down to the following 18 shows:

Comedies:
• 2 BROKE GIRLS (the 2011 season's highest-rated new comedy)
• THE BIG BANG THEORY (which recently became the first scripted show to top AMERICAN IDOL since GREY'S ANATOMY in 2007)
• HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
• MIKE & MOLLY

Dramas:
• BLUE BLOODS
• CRIMINAL MINDS
• CSI
• THE GOOD WIFE
• HAWAII FIVE-O
• THE MENTALIST
• NCIS (the highest-rated scripted drama on television for three consecutive years)
• NCIS: LOS ANGELES (the second-highest-rated scripted drama on television for two consecutive years)
• PERSON OF INTEREST (the highest-rated new series of 2011)

Reality:
• THE AMAZING RACE
• SURVIVOR
• UNDERCOVER BOSS

Newsmagazines:
• 48 HOURS MYSTERY
• 60 MINUTES

Shows conspicuously not on the renewal list include: freshmen series' A GIFTED MAN, ROB and UNFORGETTABLE, CSI off-shoots Miami and NY, and most notably CBS' tentpole comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN.  Supposedly CBS is currently undergoing preliminary discussions with Warner Bros. Studios over the fate of TWO AND A HALF MEN, so it may get renewed yet.  For the rest of the series' left off the list, this doesn't necessarily mean they're cancelled, but no news in this case probably doesn't mean good news.

Which show that CBS renewed is your favorite?

  1. Person of Interest* is brilliant.

They deserve Emmys for every aspect of production. Tiz True.

The Acting,Directing,Cinematography/Camera crew,Special effects, technical, oh and did I mention the Writers?..

Everything about this show is awesome. With the exception of one thing..

    The official website..

here have been no new full episodes posted since Root Cause.. It has made scores of fans upset and deflated. Many folks can only watch online and the disappointment of not being able to watch the new full episodes is alienating a tremendous fan base.

Really sad that the most awesome series(the highest-rated new series of 2011), that has a computer as a main character, doesn't utilize the internet to solidify it's relationship with the fans of the show.

CBS, Bad Robot and Warner Brothers should realize that we love this show and they will profit more if they give us what we want and that is for the new episodes to be posted online for a time, Not forever, we will still buy the DVDs.

    1. Well said complaint about the lack of on-line episodes. The momentum that this show has created is being damaged by the inability for NEW fans to get caught up. And the fans who have been here since the beginning need/want to rewatch episodes again! The network studios NEED to listen to the fans!

  2. I forgot to mention, POI also has the best music, the best car crashes and the best New York City views!

  3. I love everything about it. It's a show with story line depth, and poster is right - views of NY are totally off the hook. Caviezel and Emerson are so interesting in their characters - really good actors. Taraji Henson is real and beautiful. A home-run.

  4. Person of Interest is the best new original show to come out in quite some time. The concept is intriguing and casting Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson together was pure genius! They acting styles and their characters are so different but mesh beautifully! The writing and story lines are fantastic! So happy CBS renewed this GREAT show!
